CHARGE Joined the Crowd at Chery’s Big Hybrid Reveal

Hardi Boonzaaier, Mark du Plessis and Tim Sandham of CHARGE’S Gauteng Office attended the launch of the Jaecoo J7 and the Omoda C9 at the Stay Inimitable conference venue.

In the Cradle of Mankind where humans first walked upright it was either apt or ironic to reveal the hi-tech hybrid new energy vehicles to an expectant South African public.

CHARGE at Chery launch

It was a glamourous event hosted by TV presenter Loot Love, guest speaker Mike Mabasa (CEO of NAAMSA) and a troupe of ballerinas with electric lightbulbs sewn into their tutus.

Tony Liu – CEO of Chery Group SA (holding co. of Omoda and Jaecoo) said their mission was to get South Africans to “Own the Power” meaning that the hybrid of electric and ICE technology allowed drivers to choose how to power their travel. This aligns with CHARGE’s mission of providing power independent from national grids.

Both cars are beautifully designed and the C9 is especially attractive – a worthy competitor in the luxury market. As part of the extended launch the cars’ ranges were displayed on a non-stop trip from Cape Town to Addo Elephant Park – a whopping 1200km!

Hybrids – a step in the transition to New Energy Vehicles culminating in a flood of EVs by 2030 – many of which will be Chery, Omoda and Jaecoo models.

CHARGE is looking forward to exciting times with Chery.
