ZERO CARBON LOGISTICS

Decarbonising transport in Africa.

The Hub-and-Spoke Model

Your depot can become your ‘fuel’ station.

Electric Trucks & Solar charging at your depot.

More South African fleets can switch to electric than most people realise. Electric trucks are already operating in South Africa today, and for fleets running predictable daily routes, the economics are becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

While diesel price hikes and oil volatility continue to put pressure on business margins, electric trucks powered by solar depot charging offer lower operating costs per kilometre, greater control over energy and operating costs, and better long-term planning and budgeting. Businesses also benefit from lower maintenance requirements, reduced emissions, cleaner logistics operations, and a more future-ready fleet model.

What if trucks didn’t need diesel?

Proven in the Real World

In South Africa, 10+ brands have already launched their electric truck range.

Zero Carbon Logistics is building the world’s first solar-powered Electric Highways, enabling heavy-duty electric trucking through off-grid renewable energy, ultra-fast charging, and battery storage.

CHARGE Logistics is creating the future of electric freight

Zero Carbon Logistics is CHARGE’s heavy-duty logistics and energy platform, created to decarbonise South Africa’s busiest freight corridors.

We develop large-scale, off-grid energy hubs that power electric trucks reliably—without relying on the national grid.

Our model combines solar generation, battery storage, and ultra-fast truck charging to deliver Energy-as-a-Service for freight operators, logistics companies, and industrial off-takers.

Powering South Africa’s freight corridors with clean energy

Zero Carbon Logistics is rolling out Electric Highways along national routes, starting with the N3 and expanding across all major freight corridors. Each route is anchored by solar-powered logistics charging stations.

By 2025, Europe anticipates 7% of total truck sales to be zero-emission, reaching 44% by 2030 on average, with some manufacturers aiming for up to 60%. Daimler plans to exclusively sell zero-emission trucks in Europe from 2039, while Scania aims for full electric transition by 2040.

A historic first for electric freight in South Africa

In January 2026, Zero Carbon Logistics
achieved a national milestone:

the first successful charging of electric trucks at a CHARGE station using solar power and battery storage, alongside passenger EV charging.

This moment proved that off-grid renewable energy can reliably power both heavy-duty electric trucks and lighter EVs at scale—moving electric freight from theory to reality.
