In the movie Synecdoche NY – a playwright – played by Philip Seymour Hoffman receives a grant to create his masterwork. As the movie progresses his vision becomes grander, and obstacles begin to block the staging of the masterpiece. Through careful direction it is unexpectedly revealed to the audience that years have gone by, and the playwright’s kids are grown, his wife is estranged, and the theatre no longer wants to stage his play.

At times it has felt as if CHARGE’s grand vision of 120 solar-powered EV charging stations on all the major routes has remained tantalisingly out of reach.
No longer!
The first green EV charging station will soon be opening on the N12 near Wolmaransstad in the Northwest Province. This is not a dream anymore, it is reality.
It is not only a milestone for CHARGE – it is a world first!
The word Synecdoche (pronounced sin-ek-duh-kee) is a figure of speech in which a specific part of something is used to refer to the whole thing.
In this case, the word is absolutely appropriate for this case study.
Wolmaransstad charging station is the specific part that stands for the whole project, and its success.
So too, CHARGE is the specific part, which stands for the whole future of green energy.
